Mike Blyth of the No Need for Parking - An African Rock Climbing Adventure Team

Mike Blyth, born to 5th generation South African parents, spent the first 6 years of his life on a farm in the bushveld of South Africa. Mike attended 5 different schools as his parents moved around country, and after completing his one year military conscription, he studied architecture and engineering at the University and Technicon in Pretoria. Initially working in the engineering field, in 1984, at the age of 31, Mike changed to aviation when his engineering business went into liquidation.

Once in aviation Mike found his true calling and discovered that wings and swirling through the clouds really suited him. He started a number of successful aviation businesses, some of which he still owns and runs today. Since 2006, however, Mike has been working in a new aviation venture – the development of a light sport aircraft for manufacture with his business partner, James Pitman.

Mike is well known in aviation circles for his films and exploits – in particular for winning the Microlight World Championships and his exceptionally long flying expeditions.

Mike lives in suburban Johannesburg with his wife Charmaine and their daughter Alexandra (16). Mike has 2 sons from his first marriage – Stuart, who lives in Dubai, and Gregory, who lives in Johannesburg.
